Sustainable Swiss Watchmaking: How Vrenel Builds Luxury That Lasts
At Vrenel, luxury and sustainability are not opposites. Discover how we source materials responsibly, partner with ethical Swiss ateliers, and design watches meant to be kept for generations.

Luxury used to be defined by visibility. The louder the logo, the larger the statement, the more it was valued. That era is ending.
A new generation of discerning buyers is asking different questions: Where was this made? By whom? Under what conditions? And will it still matter in twenty years?
These are the questions Vrenel was built to answer.
SWISS MADE: THE ORIGINAL STANDARD
The Swiss Made designation is one of the most regulated origin marks in the world. To carry it, a timepiece must have its movement manufactured in Switzerland, be cased in Switzerland, and pass final inspection in Switzerland. At least 60% of the production costs must occur domestically. For Vrenel, this is not a marketing tool — it is a framework that ensures our watches meet the same standards that have defined the world’s most respected timepieces for centuries. Working with established Swiss ateliers means our production partners operate under the labour, environmental, and quality regulations of Swiss law — among the most rigorous in the world.
MATERIALS: CHOSEN WITH CARE
The 316L stainless steel used in Vrenel cases is sourced from certified European suppliers and is 100% recyclable. Our sapphire crystals are synthetic — lab-grown rather than mined — offering identical hardness and clarity to natural sapphire without the environmental cost of extraction. Leather straps, where used, are sourced from tanneries that comply with REACH chemical safety regulations. We are transparent about the fact that our sustainability journey is ongoing. As a young brand, we do not claim to have solved every challenge. But we do commit to making conscious material choices at every stage — and to being honest about where we are and where we intend to go.
DESIGN FOR LONGEVITY
The most sustainable product is one that never needs replacing. Vrenel watches are designed to be serviced, not discarded. The Swiss automatic movements we use are fully mechanical — meaning they contain no battery, no electronic components, and no planned obsolescence. With regular servicing every four to five years, a Vrenel timepiece will perform for decades. Our design language reinforces this philosophy. We do not follow trends. The Noctra Obscura does not reference a particular season, style movement, or cultural moment. It is designed to look as considered in ten years as it does today. This is the Vrenel definition of luxury: not what impresses now, but what endures.
THE QUIET SHIFT
We believe the luxury market is moving toward a quieter, more substantive model — one where provenance matters more than prominence, and where the story behind a product carries as much weight as the product itself. Vrenel is designed for this shift. Swiss automatic movements. Responsibly sourced materials. Limited production. Intentional design. This is not a brand built to be everywhere. It is built to mean something — to the people who wear it, and to the standards it represents.
